Create charts with Copilot in Excel

Warning: This feature is being deprecated. App Skills will be removed from Excel by late-February 2026. You can use Agent Mode in Excel to create charts edit your workbook, Copilot Chat to ask basic questions, or explore with Analyst for deep reasoning data analysis.

If you have data that you want to view as a chart, Copilot in Excel can create one for you. 

Note: Copilot in Excel currently supports over twelve types of charts, but it does not generate every chart type available in Excel.

  1. Open Excel.

  2. From the Home tab, select the Copilot small image of the Copilot icon. button.

  3. Make sure to format your data in a table or supported range.

  4. Ask Copilot to create the kind of chart you want. You can copy and paste one of the example prompts, or type something in your own words.

  5. Copilot generates a chart.

  6. Select +Add to a new sheet​​​​​​​ to add the generated chart into your workbook.

Try creating charts with prompts like:
